Best Time to Visit Doddabetta Peak

The best time to visit Doddabetta Peak is between October and May, when the weather is cool, clear, and perfect for enjoying long-distance views of the Nilgiri mountains. 

If you prefer pleasant temperatures and lush greenery, the post-monsoon months from September to November are ideal. Try visiting during the early morning or late afternoon for the best experience, as the light is softer and the chances of clear skies are higher.

By Rail

The nearest major railway station to Doddabetta Peak is Mettupalayam Railway Station (MTP), about 40 km from Ooty.

From Mettupalayam, you have two options:

By Road: Take a taxi or bus from Coimbatore to Ooty (approx. 3–4 hours).

By Nilgiri Mountain Railway: Take the toy train from Mettupalayam to Ooty. Mettupalayam is about 40 km from Coimbatore. The train ride is scenic and takes around 5–6 hours.

After reaching Ooty, take a taxi or drive to Doddabetta Peak.

By Air

The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport (CJB), around 88 km from Ooty.

From the airport:

By Taxi/Car: Direct drive to Ooty takes about 3–4 hours.

By Bus: Government and private buses operate from Coimbatore city to Ooty.

After reaching Ooty, take a taxi or drive to Doddabetta Peak.
