History of sims park
Sim’s Park was established in 1874 by Mr. J. D. Sim who was the Secretary to the Government at that time, along with Major Murray of the Nilgiris forests. The park was later named after Mr. Sim in recognition of his contribution.
Originally, Sim’s Park was developed as a pleasure garden for British officials and residents living in and around Coonoor. Over the years, it gradually evolved into a well-planned botanical garden.
Today, Sim’s Park stands as one of the oldest and most important gardens in the Nilgiris, attracting visitors from all over the country.
